Hi everyone
Thank you for all your wonderful messages. Audrey has a lot of friends out there.
'Audrey's Big Secret', the third book in the series, has just been shortlisted in the South Australian Festival Awards for Literature. That's exciting (or as Audrey would say, 'Sesiting!').
There is an Audrey picture book coming. Ann James - Audrey's illustrator - and I are going to have a busy year working on it.
I am putting up information on Audrey's Blog too at www.audreyoftheoutbackblog.com
so you can check in to see how the writing is going.

Hi
It's Christine Harris here, Audrey's writer. Audrey thinks I'm the best person to answer some of your questions, so here goes ... I became a writer when I could first put words together to make sentences that held exciting ideas. Audrey doesn't go to a regular school. She lives too far away from one, so she and her brother do lessons with her mum at the kitchen table. The year is 1930 - not quite the 200 that some some thought! The dogs owned by the Barlows were called Grease and Lightning. Audrey says that when she is bored, she imagines exciting things, plays in her cubbies, draws pictures, talks (she does this one a lot), she also shares a kind of go-cart with her brothers and they race down sandhills on it. Both Audrey and I are sure that Stumpy is real. (He's listening, so I have to say that, but I also think it's true).
All those people who have only read the first chapter will find answers to many of their questions as they read the three books that are now in the series.
from, Christine Harris

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS FROM CHRISTINE HARRIS
Hello,
Audrey and I love reading the messages you are all leaving. Thank you. I notice there are some questions to be answered.
What inspired me to write books? It's fun and I get lots of emails and letters from readers, I get to dress up as the character, work at odd hours (even the middle of the night sometimes).
Audrey says her favourite meal is her dad's rabbit stew, except he boils it for too long sometimes and the vegetables go all mushy. But it still tastes good. It is really the only thing he makes, but he does it well. She had roast lamb at Mrs Paterson's house and that was very good too.
How do I know that kids will like my stories? I am a kid inside. My outside might be wrinkly, but not inside. I also try to listen to what kids tell me about what they like and don't like about stories. But I think that stories are universal. That means everyone, of any age, likes similar things and we all like stories.
The winners of the latest Audrey writing competition are now on the Blog. Their entries are great.
Hope you all enjoy reading 'Audrey's Big Secret'. And for those who can't find the books at their local library, you can always ask them to buy the books or ask for an interlibrary loan. Librarians are usually very happy to do this to help you find the book you want.

G'day
Thank you for leaving messages for me. Savannah, Price is 12, so he's older than me. He thinks he's all grown up but I reckon he's got a bit of growing to do yet.
Alannah, you're writing a book. Wow. That's exciting. Do you have a special notebook? My cousin Jimmy sent me a diary from the city.
Harrison, the pictures are drawn by Ann James. She's clever, isn't she?
Teresa, if you can find out why carrots are orange I would like that and I will tell my dad 'cos I don't think he knows that one either.
Bye, Audrey, Two Bob
